Today is a special one for me. My new single with Slimline Mutha, “The Storm” featuring Pumpkinhead and Skyzoo, with cuts by DJ Phillip Lee, is officially out.
I’ve been waiting to share this one with you.
A lot of you who have followed my journey know what PH meant to me. That was my brother. He took me under his wing early on, believed in me and was part of my life and my journey as an MC in a very real way. So hearing the two of us together on a record again all these years later hits differently. I’m grateful to his family for giving me their blessing to release it and I hope when people hear his voice on this record they remember just how dope he was. #RIPPH
My history with Sky goes way back too. I first met Skyzoo outside of Fat Beats in NYC probably over 20 years ago. There was a freestyle cypher going on outside and we both jumped in and rhymed. We were just two hungry MCs back then doing what MCs do. Who would’ve known that all these years later we’d be on a record together with PH?
And the record is HARD!
Slimline gave us exactly the kind of beat you want to rhyme over, Phillip Lee got busy on the cuts, and everybody came to rap. If you love lyricism and that feeling Hip Hop used to give you when you heard MCs really going for it, I think you’re going to love this one.

It’s kind of crazy when I stop and think about everything that’s been happening lately.
A couple weeks ago I had my Barnes & Noble signing for my novel Legacy of the Light, and we sold out every copy they had in the store. People came out, bought the book, talked with me, took pictures and shared their own stories with me. I left there feeling incredibly grateful.
And at the same time, I’ve been making music, shooting visuals, doing interviews, getting ready for the album and just putting everything I have into this next chapter.
