Anno 1981 is the return of a powerful creative partnership between New Jersey lyricist Cymarshall Law and Swedish producer Frigstep. Some collaborations take years to build, others return exactly when the culture needs them most — this EP feels like both.

The two first connected through the production collective The Beatnikz, the team behind Cymarshall Law’s acclaimed album Freedom Express Line. Years later, Frigstep returns to produce an entire project, bringing textured, soulful, golden‑era‑rooted production that perfectly matches Cymarshall Law’s truth‑driven lyricism.

The title Anno 1981 translates from Latin as “In the Year of 1981.” Both artists were born that year, and while the EP isn’t a strict concept record, the spirit of that era lives in every track:
Boom bap tapes. Golden‑era values. Hip Hop as a craft, a culture, and a discipline — not a trend.

This is Hip Hop in its purest form: unfiltered, intentional, and unapologetic.
